BAYBAYIN (ANCIENT LANGUAGE)
Baybayin is an ancient pre-colonial script used by early Filipinos, especially the Tagalogs, Kapampangans, and Visayans. Influenced by Brahmic scripts, it was widely written on bamboo and leaves. Its use declined during Spanish colonization as the Latin alphabet replaced it. However, variations like the Mangyan and Tagbanua scripts survived. Today, Baybayin is experiencing a revival as a symbol of Filipino identity, appearing in art, tattoos, and government seals.
